2.What are the functions of the IoT solar street light?

a. Positioning

Each solar light has a unique number, and it will be displayed as a map on the computer after the network is successfully connected. Therefore, we can see the position of each light on the computer, which is the basis of all intelligent control and monitoring.


b. Real-time monitoring

In this system, the working status of each solar street light will be transmitted to the server in real-time. So we can see, how much power each lamp has charged during the day, how much power consume at night, and how much power is left in the battery... In addition, for the solar street light under unqualified working status, this system will find out automatically and send a warning message, which is convenient for us to find the problem and repair the solar street light in time.


c. Energy saving

For the traditional solar street light, if you want to adjust its working mode, you need to set it one by one, it is really a disaster for big solar street light projects.

3.Two solutions to make the IoT solar street light

a. Solar controller with Lora/Zigbee module + Concentrator with SIM card

This is the first generation of IoT solar street light control system. In this system, each solar controller is built in a Lora/Zigbee module, so a local area network is formed and Lights will transmit working data to the concentrator by Zigbee/Lora signal, then the concentrator with a SIM card will send all the information to the server by 4G/5G network.


In this system, only the concentrator need a SIM card, and usually, a concentrator can control 50-150pcs of solar street light, so it saves lots of SIM card fee and the network fee.


But Lora/Zigbee signal is not stable like the 4G/5G network. If the distance for the street light is not reasonable, some lights may be disconnected after installation.


However, if the contractor have an engineer who knows how the Lora/Zigbee work, it will be good to use this solution.

b. Solar controller with internet module

This is the new solution. In this system, each solar controller has a SIM card in-built, so they can transmit the signal to the server directly. Since the 4G/5G network is more stable than the Lora/Zigbee, this IoT solar street light will work better.


Due to the low SIM card fees and network fees, this solution is widely used in China solar street lighting projects.

4.Which IoT solar street light control system I should choose?

b. If the road is curved, and many surrounding buildings, then the signal may affected. In this environment, the 4G/5G internet module will work better.


c. We all care about the SIM card's cost and data cost, how much does it will cost?
